Self Care for a Better Mood and Mindset

  • Emotions are powerful tools to help us understand our needs and divine attributes in a deeper, better way.

  • Emotions aren't something to push away, "control" or diminish, but instead to be honored and worked with in a compassionate and empowered way

  • Emotions and feelings bring flavor and color to life. Even "bad" emotions like anger, sadness, or irritability are an important part of the human experience.

  • * BUT * If an emotion keeps showing up over and over again, settles too often as a mood, or even becomes a commonplace in your disposition -- it's time to enhance the self care.

  • Utilize and work with emotions as energy in motion to come into deeper relationship with your divine center

  • Clarify what emotions or moods relate to what excess energy built up in the body (vata, pitta, kapha - qualities of space, fire, or earth)

  • Maximize essential self care, daily flow, rhythms, rituals, diet, and personal practices that will help alleviate any common moods and prevent them in the future for a better disposition and more deep peace, joy, and contentment.

Signs of Imbalance

When the doshic energy increases and an imbalance occurs, it can be expressed as a frequent emotion or 'mood'.

  • VATA

    fear, anxiety, nervousness, worry, agitated, distracted, indecisive, hysterical, panicked, restless, unsettled, depleted, edgy, fidgety, jittery, overwhelmed, stressed out, fragile, insecure, sensitive, shaky, etc.

  • PITTA

    overly aggressive, angry, frustrated, annoyed, rageful, critical, irritated, hot tempered,
    burnt out, impatient, furious, resentful, envious, edgy, cranky, tense, etc.

  • KAPHA

    depressed, lethargic, possessive, unable to let go, attached, excessively passive, greedy, aversion, animosity, alienated, aloof, cold, detached, distant, indifferent, numb, uninterested, withdrawn, listless, gloomy, heavy hearted, hopeless, melancholy, wretched, longing, nostalgic, etc.
